7th Annual Junior Bowling Youth Tournament

We are the largest USBC certified youth program in McHenry County.  We pride ourselves on providing a fun, competitive, and safe learning environment where youths can learn the sport and grow to love it.  This will be the 7th Youth Tournament that we are hosting with our home bowling center Metro Bowl. 


Items required for registration:

  • Current 2023-2024 USBC Youth Member Number** -Member Lookup (bowl.com)
  • **Youths must be members of the MCUSBC local association.  $6 membership fee will be applied to checkout and membership card will need to be filled out prior to tournament.
  • Birthdate of youth registering
  • Youth bowlers that are 18 must have completed SafeSport
  • Current/Latest 2023-2024 League Recap Sheet showing youth's average after 15 games or more
    • If 2023-2024 average is 10 pins different after 15 games this year, we will use the current average
    • You must upload the file (pdf recommend), link in confirmation email or - 7th Annual Recap Sheet Upload

Annual Tournament Rules - updated for 7th Annual Tournament (12/23) 

1. Eligibility:  The tournament is open to all 2023 - 2024 USBC certified Youth members.  Current USBC membership cards must be presented at check-in for additional verification. Membership in the MCUSBC is required and can be purchased during registration.

2. Date & Location:  The tournament will be held on Sunday, February 25, 2024 with check-in beginning 30 minutes prior to your chosen squad time.

3. Registration:  Registrations will be accepted through Monday, February 19, 2024, at midnight.  Register on-line athttps://jrbowl.org

4. Entry Fee:  Entry fee is $50.00 per bowler.  Credit card entries are accepted online.  There will be no walk ins or other payment methods available for this event. Bowlers who are not members of the McHenry County USBC will need to pay an additional $6 to join the MCUSBC local chapter.

5. Divisions:  There will be two separate age divisions one 13 and under, the other for bowlers 14 through 18 . All 18 year olds must be SafeSport certified. The age of the youth bowler as of February 19, 2024 will determine the division.

6. Squads: Two start times are available for this event.  One squad will start at 12:00pm and the other at 4:00pm.  Each squad will have 30 bowlers .

7. Lane Assignments & Check-In:  Lanes will be assigned by the order of entries received.  Each bowler must check-in at least 30 minutes prior to the start time to receive their lane assignments.  Any bowlers checking in late will receive zero (0) for any missed frames. No refunds will be given.

8. Average:  Each bowler will use last year’s (2022-2023 season) book average of 21 or more games unless this year’s average is 10 pins different after 15 or more games.  League recap sheets for the current season must be uploaded and submitted prior to the tournament.  Instructions will be provided during your online registration.

9. Format of Tournament:  Each bowler will bowl three (3) games on the same pair of lanes.  The bowler’s handicap will be added to their scores.  Handicap will be based on 90% of the difference between the bowler’s average and 215.  The lane condition will be Metro Bowl’s Standard House Shot pattern with re-dressing of lanes only between squads.  This is a USBC certified handicap tournament

10. Scholarships:  100% of scholarship portion of the entry fee will deposited as scholarships held in the USBC SMART Program in Arlington, TX.  Scholarships will be awarded on at least a 1:5 ratio or major portion thereof in each division to the USBC Youth Bowler.  To receive the any SMART funding in the youth scholarship account, you must participate in the event.

11. Dress Code: Bowlers must compete in appropriate bowling attire. This may include jeans or slacks and a jersey, t-shirt or polo shirt. Shorts, skirts or skorts must be longer than fingertip length when arms are hanging loosely along the sides of the body. No jeans with holes or writing, sweatpants, athletic shorts, tank tops, spaghetti straps, or strapless shirts will be allowed. Clothing depicting alcohol, tobacco or offense language is not allowed.

12. Equipment: Altering the surface of a bowling ball by the use of abrasives, cleaners or polish is prohibited during competition, including the warm-up session. A maximum of six bowling balls per entrant is permitted in the bowling center at one time.

13. Pace of Play: Each Squad should be completed with all three games in 2 hours and 45 minutes. Please be ready to bowl.

14. Conduct: The use of alcohol, tobacco, abusive language, poor sportsmanship or abuse of any bowling equipment of center property by participants or spectators will not be allowed. Violators will be asked to leave and no refunds will be given

15. Tournament Hosts:  Tournament is jointly hosted by Metro Bowl and the Junior Bowling Association of McHenry County, with support from the McHenry County USBC Association.
